ANOTHER
VICTIM OF THE WINTER SNOW... Tony Porter has been forced to scrap the
Winter Charity Autojumble and Collections Fair at Navestock Village Hall,
in deepest Essex on Sunday (Feb 8). "With all the snow, sludge and ice around,
we considered it simply too dangerous; we are very sorry and hope to see everyone
at our next event on August 9..."

BRISTOL HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED... Heavy overnight snow in the South-West
has put paid to the 30th Bristol Classic Car Show at Shepton Mallet this
weekend (Feb 7/8 2009); even with no more snow forecast, the showground considers
the site will be 'unsafe'. The organisers say they will announcing a new date
for the show 'very soon' - watch this space...
Spare a thought for the Jensen Owners Club who battled their way through
to the Bath & West Showground in intolerable conditions only to be told
the bad news; "As they were the only club on site, they wanted to know if they
could be next year's feature stand!" said Nationwide Exhibitions's Nigel
Stevens.
"We are bitterly disappointed," added Nigel, founder of the car show. "We were
planning to go ahead up until this morning (Friday, Feb. 6), despite the conditions,
and had tremendous support to do so from the classic car owners, clubs and other
exhibitors.
"However, the primary concern of any event remains the health and safety of visitors,
and this atrocious weather throws up too many variables, including the process
of getting to and from the venue.
"We will put all the relevant information on our event website (www.bccsl.co.uk), and refer all ticket-holders there for updates and
details for the re-arranged show.
"And, of course, all prepaid tickets will still be valid for the re-arranged show.
We are already looking at available dates when the weather improves, and will
ensure our 30th Anniversary Show will still be the biggest and best ever."
The proposed auction of classic vehicles, which formed part of the overall show,
has already been rescheduled for Monday (February 9). The doors are open from
9am, with the auction of automobilia starting at 11am, followed by the vehicles
at 12.30pm.

SNOW BUSINESS... - Heavy snowfalls in the East Midlands (up to five
feet of drifts on parts) have put paid to this weekend's Classic Japanese
Motorcycle Show at Donington. Said organiser Andrew Greenwood: "We've
been forced to postpone due to the ground conditions at the venue. The
heavy snow at the venue last night closed the adjacent East Midlands Airport,
with more snow expected tonight (Thursday Feb. 5), the car parks are under
a metre of snow and the Sunday market already cancelled. It was decided
that it would be unsafe for us to go ahead.
"We have rescheduled the event
for Saturday and Sunday 2nd & 3rd May and hope to see everybody Donington
on this new date..."
