EVENTS LATEST...EVENTS LATEST...EVENTS LATEST...A FEW MATTERS to clear up from the 2008 Almanac; first off, apologies to Andrew Greenwood for getting the date of his May Cholmondeley event wrong in his ad; it was, however, correct in the listings - it is, of course, May 11 and not May 4/5. Andrew also fell victim to a piece of lazy editing in the Almanac - his Capesthorne August Bank Holiday Show is listed under August 16/17, when it is, of course August 24/25.
Apologies too, to Mark Woodward; his Blackpool Classic Car Show on Easter Monday (March 24), was not listed in his ad - shame to miss this one as it is looking like a cracker already.
As mentioned in the Bristol Show report in the March 2008 issue of CMM, it’s all change with regard to Nationwide Exhibitions plans for 2008 at Shepton Mallet - first off, they’ve been forced to switch the date of their Bristol Classic Car Show at the Royal Bath & West Showground. The show, the 30th anniversary event, will now take place on February 7 & 8, 2009 and not February 14 and 15 as published. Similarly, since the Almanac went to press Nationwide have scrapped plans for their Autojumble, Automart and Restoration Show on November 1 and 2. A real shame that this will now not take place....

EVENTS LATEST...EVENTS LATEST...EVENTS LATEST...WE’RE TOLD THAT ALL Old Sodbury’s Sortouts for 2008 at Newbury have now been cancelled; the organisers have given several reasons why this popular event has been scrapped - pressure from The Highway’s Agency who claim the Sortouts overload the M4, the A34 and the interchange, the Low-Emissions Zone in London, which will ‘make it too expensive to bring older lorries through London to Newbury’ and the increase in fuel prices. ‘Is it realistic still to ask people to make a long journey to get to the Sortout?’ say the organisers in a letter to exhibitors.
It’s all a little curious isn’t it?...
*UPDATE* The Sortouts are now back on, 'piggy-backing' alongside the Spring Beaulieu Autrojumble and Automart in May and the LRO Show at Peterborough in September issue - more in April's issue of CMM.
