BREAKING; NEC RESTORATION SHOW NEW DATE, GOODWOOD FOS POSTPONED
ORGANISERS CLARION EVENTS this afternoon announced the new dates for the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show, with Discovery, are 7-9 August at NEC, Birmingham - but Goodwood Festival of Speed has been postponed.
The coronavirus crisis caused the postponement of this massive NEC show earlier this month; it should have taken place this weekend - March 27 -29. Instead, Clarion are hoping that the current lockdown and indeed this virus itself should be a thing of the past come August.
In an email to exhibitors, Clarion said: "We are pleased to confirm that the rescheduled dates for the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show, with Discovery, are 7-9 August at NEC, Birmingham.
"All Exhibitor and Trader stand bookings will be automatically transferred to the new dateline - all stands will be exactly the same as the event will continue in the identical hall configuration. Should you have any specific questions then please contact the sales team directly.
"Further information is available on our FAQ (https://www.necrestorationshow.com/faqs) page.
"We thank you all for your continued patience and understanding but most of all your support during these unprecedented times."
Meanwhile Charles Richmond, The Duke of Richmond & Gordon, and owner of the Goodwood Estate and Circuit, sent an email out today advising media and exhibitors that this year's Festival of Speed, planned for July 9 - 12 is being postponed, though the Revival remains as September 11 - 13.
He wrote: "I wanted to write to you and let you know personally about our plans for this year’s Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. Following all that’s happened in the last few weeks and the advice we have received from the UK Government, we have decided to postpone the Festival to later in the year.
"We obviously want to be sure of choosing the best possible date; this will require some careful consideration and as soon as we have that we will let you know. Whatever we decide to do I can assure you it will be just as fantastic a celebration of everything we love and enjoy as you would expect. Most likely it will happen late summer, early autumn and, of course, tickets and hospitality bookings will remain valid for the new date. If you have not yet bought a ticket for the Festival of Speed and would like to know as soon as the new dates are announced, you can keep up to date here.
"We will continue to review plans for the Goodwood Revival, in the hope that the event will go ahead as planned on September 11-13th, as well as the rescheduling of the 78th Members’ Meeting.
"These are dramatic and unbelievable times but they will pass and we are already trying to think about just how exciting it’s going to be to welcome you all back to Goodwood for what perhaps might be the ‘Greatest Event Ever’."
