BREAKING NEWS: SIHA Postpones April's Techno-Classica
THE DAY AFTER auctioneers Sotherby's postponed their collectors car auction scheduled to take place in conjunction with the Techno-Classica car show in Essen, Germany, organisers SIHA has announced that the show itself will not now be held on March 25-29.
An announcement on the SIHA website says: "Due to the govermental order of the North Rhine Westphalian Ministry for Labour, Health and Social Affairs for prevention of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, cities are advised to prohibit events with more than 1000 visitors.
"Techno-Classica Essen 2020 is NOT allowed to be held as planned on the date of 25 to 29 March 2020.
"The new date will be published as soon as possible."*
SIHA's UK agent Mark Charles said: "Right now, we're looking at the possibility of rescheduling sometime in June; it's not a good situation, but what can you do? Hopefully, we'll be over the worst soon and things can get back to normal." For more details contact Mark on 01932 351640 or visit the SIHA website at www.siha.de.
Sotherby's statement reads: “RM Sotheby’s today announces that its forthcoming Essen auction (scheduled 26-27 March) is postponed until the second half of June,” the company said. “RM Sotheby’s, along with all participants of The Techno-Classica Essen show, are working in consultation with the organizers of the event in order to establish a fixed new date.
“The decision to not proceed with original dates comes in light of the global COVID-19 outbreak and the need to secure the safety of the exhibitors, staff, auction and event visitors, and all decisions are being made in consultation with the health department of the German government.”
