BREAKING NEWS: Veterama Hockenheimring 2020 Cancelled
Veterama Hockenheimring, one of the biggest classic vehicle events/autojumbles in Germany, and due to take place April 3-5 has been cancelled following the coronavirus escalation in Europe.
Organisers, the Seidel family, issued a statement yesterday afternoon, not long after SIHA announced that Techno-Classica in Essen had been postponed.
The statement reads: "Today, Thursday, March 12th, 2020 at 2:04 p.m. we received the message from the City of Hockenheim, Department of Citizens Service, that all major events with more than 1,000 participants must be canceled by ministerial order.
"It is with great regret that we have to convey the message to the city of Hockenheim:
"The spring VETERAMA 2020 in Hockenheim cannot take place due to official orders.
"In the past few days we have been in constant contact with the city of Hockenheimring with the Hockenheimring in order to examine all possibilities to have the event take place despite the current CORONA location, especially since it is an open-air event.
"Unfortunately, all our efforts have been unsuccessful. We have to comply with the official order here. We have been promised a formal notice for the next few days. However, we did not want to wait until then to send you a message so that we could send you the information in time so that you can adapt your further planning accordingly.
"If you would like the final notification to be sent, please let us know by email ([email protected]). We will then send you the notification as soon as we have it.
"We will get back to you as soon as possible with further information. If you have any questions, please send us an email ([email protected]).
"We regret this official decision, which also constitutes force majeure for us, which could neither be foreseen nor influenced. Of course, protecting the health of visitors, providers and employees is a top priority for us."
