Website Exclusive: Revving up to Revival

Deep within garages and workshops all across Britain, feverish preparations and final touches are being made as thousands of classic vehicle enthusiasts ready themselves for one of the pinnacle events in the historic motor racing calendar – the Goodwood Revival.

This unabashed, all-encompassing spectacle of thrilling on-track action, glamour, music and fashion – all celebrated in true retro style – takes over the Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit from September 9th – 11th, 2016.

Last year’s event saw 150,000 visitors – most in full period costume, descend on the iconic motorsport venue and organisers are once-again preparing for a sell-out success.

Back by popular demand and better than ever, the Revival Car Show, presented by Stewart Miller & Peter James Insurance, makes a triumphant return.

A Mecca for the thousands of festival-goers, keen to admire the glittering array of more than 4,500 pre-1976 classics from across the globe, this highlight of the popular Over the Road area has fast become a real distraction for those heading to experience the racetrack action.

Once again, the hotly-contested Revival Car Show Best in Show competition will showcase a gleaming selection of cream of the crop classics, shortlisted by none other than Sir Stirling Moss, each vying for the crown of Best in Show on each of the event’s three days.

Each day’s ten glistening shortlisted vehicles will be displayed around the stand of Stewart Miller & Peter James Insurance, who are this year going all-out with a celebration of the 50s Drive-in-Movie, complete with screen, soundtrack and refreshments.

Popcorn in-hand, visitors can judge for themselves which worthy classic should be awarded the coveted prize, by voting for their choice on the stand throughout the event.

Encompassing the spectrum of famous classic motoring marques, from the supremely rare to the clearly wonderful, this year’s final shortlists, whittled down from the hundreds of entries from across the UK, features everything from a former Venezuelan racing veteran 1956 AC Ace-Bristol to a beloved, original 1973 Jensen Interceptor III.

Each entrant will hope to follow in the footsteps of previous winners, a 1930 Alfa Romeo Gran Turismo, a 1939 Morris 10CWT Truck, a 1961 Mercedes 300SL Roadster, a 1961 Lotus Elite, a 1968 Triumph TR5 (pictured) and a 1963 Mk1 Lotus Cortina.

A first at this year’s Revival Car Show, everyone who votes in the Best in Show competition this year will be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to Goodwood Revival 2017 and an £100 insurance voucher as well as being entered into a unique Grand Prize Draw - details to be revealed during the event.

Keeping a close eye on proceedings, Sir Stirling Moss will be visiting the stand on Saturday and Sunday.

Those not lucky enough to be heading to the event can vote online for one vehicle for each day of the event by visiting https://www.goodwood.com/flagship-events/goodwood-revival/explore-reviva...

Having two years ago signed a ground-breaking deal to become the first sponsors of the Revival Car Show in the Goodwood Revival’s history, Peter James, director of Stewart Miller & Peter James Insurance, said that the company had worked to further enhance the area over the last two years.

“Since becoming the Revival Car Show’s first ever sponsor, we have worked to build on the area’s reputation, giving classic vehicle owners even more reasons to arrive in style and bring their pride and joy along for this wonderful ride, and more reasons for event-goers to head to this popular area to enjoy all that it has to offer,” he explained.

“Each year we aim to build on the successes of the last and feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive.  Our Best in Show competition has been a resounding success, attracting hundreds of entries and thousands of votes, and we are sure that this year will be no exception.”
The Stewart Miller & Peter James Insurance team will be on their stand throughout the event to talk visitors through the range of insurance options on offer to them.

West Midlands-based Stewart Miller Insurance provides a full range of insurance products, including commercial, motor trade, household and personal lines cover.
