Website Exclusive: Welcome Change of Location for Hoghton Tower Classic

If the revving engine of a classic vehicle sets your heart racing and the glint of a beautifully polished bonnet catches your eye then Hoghton Tower near Preston is the place to be, especially with news of a change of location.

Taking place on Sunday 14th August this is the second visit this year by organisers Classic Shows, to this popular Lancashire venue and a chance for visitors to get close up to over 400 gorgeous classic cars, bikes, vans and trucks all set within Hoghton Tower’s breathtaking parkland.

Classic Shows boss Matthew Harvey told CMM: "It will be a perfect day of motoring nostalgia, there will be displays from local and national clubs such as Lancashire Capri Club, Ford and Friends and the Stag Owners’ Club among many others, plus individual entries such as Morris and Austins from the 1920s, through the MGs and Jaguars from the 1960s and 70s, right up to the modern classics from the 1990s. Not to mention the Nortons, BSAs and Triumphs on display in the motorcycle section. Add to that the chance to speak to exhibitors about their passion, not to mention the arena displays, live commentary from a leading classic vehicle expert and all day concours competition, this fun packed day out will get even the most keyed up of classic vehicle enthusiasts into gear.

"We’re delighted to confirm that we’ve relocated the show to a new field within the Hoghton Tower premises. The new field is a similar size to the old field, but the key improvement is that this is a flat field. The field is accessed by turning left once you enter the Hoghton Tower premises."

Matthew added: “We are very excited about this new location within Hoghton Tower, we believe it provides for a much improved classic vehicle event.”

This is just one of the twenty-five events that Classic Shows are organising this year and the 36th time Classic Shows has been welcomed back to the home of Sir Bernard de Hoghton since 1992.

Hoghton Tower, a Grade I listed building, is the ancestral home of the de Hoghton family. The de Hoghton’s are descended directly from Harvey de Walter, one of the companions of William the Conqueror. Re-created in 1565 by Thomas Hoghton, this ancient, fortified, hilltop manor house occupies a commanding position, 650ft above sea level. The Tower lies mid-way between Preston and Blackburn, with magnificent views of Lancashire, the Lake District and North Wales. Hoghton Tower is the only true baronial hall in Lancashire. More recently, the creation of the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust has established the house as a destination for culture, education and entertainment, whilst ensuring that the fabric of this historic treasure is preserved for future generations.

The 36th Lancashire Classic Event takes place from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 14th August at Hoghton Tower, Hoghton, Preston, Lancs PR5 0SH. Admission is £7 for all adults, £3 for children aged 7-14, under 7s are free and parking is free. There is a small additional charge for the house and formal gardens.
