WE ARE VERY SAD
TO REPORT the news that MG Octagon Car Club founder and secretary
Harry Crutchley has died in hospital, after a long period of ill-health. Harry,
aged 67, was not only a real enthusiast and, until recent times, a familiar
figure on the events circuit, but also a real friend of CMM, helping us, whenever
he could, to get established some two decades ago now. Harry was one of the
real good guys - he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with his family...
NEWARK ORGANISER JEFF
Needham tells us there was an 'exceptional turnout' at Pete Buccieri's funeral
last month (February 2008) 'which reflected the high esteem by which people regarded
him'. Jeff added: "There were speeches by his nephew and ex-wife Sue: he was
68-years old (a surprise to me); was playing golf and five-a-side football right
up to the heart attack which caused his death; a post-mortem revealed that he
had already had a minor attack previously. "I have had many replies to an about
his death, all were devastated by the news. "Running the events, I don't have
time to speak to people at great length, but I miss Pete like a dear friend. I
first met him at the Kirkby in Ashfield jumble run by Owen Parkin. He has stood
at nearly all our events - halfway down, next to the shutter doors at Huddersfield;
just to the right of the small entrance door in the Lady Eastwood hall at Newark,
against the wall. His friend, Charlie, used to share the stall with him, selling
toys, with Pete selling literature. Unfortunately, Charlie died quite a number
of years ago - I only hope they are jumbling together now..."
